View and buy original artworks straight from Artists Open Houses.
In conjunction with the Brighton Festival and Fringe, The Open Houses festival covers the first four weekends of May. However, some venues are also open on bank Holiday Mondays and/ or weekdays. The majority of venues in artist’s homes and other non-traditional spaces are open between 11am – 6pm and you can check varying times with the AOH brochure or individual venue’s online listings.
Additionally, the festival runs for three weekends in November/December.
Extending from Brighton and Hove to Lewes, Ditchling and Newhaven, The Artists Open Houses are within the East Sussex area. Mainly grouped together into fourteen trails, the Artists Open Houses including some ‘independent venues’ which have not joined a local trail because there is no trail in their area, provide a unique experience for visitors, where they can meet the artists and buy artwork and crafts directly from them as well view an array of contemporary and original artwork. Most of the venues are usually in convenient walking distance of each other.
The Artists Open Houses festival Work includes ceramics, jewellery, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, and many other media.
Entry to Open Houses is free.
