This year is the 25th anniversary year of the Vitality Brighton Half Marathon organised by The Sussex Beacon charity whose HIV care centre opened its doors in 1992. In 2013 this race was voted the most improved at the Runner’s World PB Awards. The half Marathon is the Sussex Beacons biggest annual fundraising event and will take place 22nd February 2015, starting 9am and finishing at Madeira Drive next to the Steve Ovett statue and covering 13.1 miles of the seafront and city centre. Sussex Beacon is aiming for 400 runners this year’s race. There were 292 Team Beacon runners in 2014, helping The Sussex Beacon to continue offering support for people living with or affected by HIV. This event is one of the most popular in the national running calendar and longest established seafront road race events in the UK. The race has a great atmosphere for spectators and runners to enjoy and takes place on a flat and fast course by the sea and close to some of the City’s iconic landmarks.
